Welcome Events for New Staff

We hold approximately 3-4 virtual or in-person events per year.

Next event: Thursday 29 May, 10.00am to 12 noon, Great Hall. 

We are delighted to welcome you to Queen's.

During the Welcome Event, you will be invited to visit information stands, hosted by colleagues from across the University, this will assist you in becoming more familiar with Queen’s and enable you to review the services available to you. Following the event, you may use this webpage to direct you to the different areas in attendance at the event.

The Library

Library Services is responsible for the delivery of a range of services from the McClay Library and several other locations across the campus. Library staff also provide induction, subject support and user training to all of the Library’s user groups.

IT Training and Accreditation

Academic Services

The Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy Office (AEP) maintains lifelong relationships with former students of the University now living and working all over the world and also helps Queen’s by raising money, through the Queen’s Foundation.

Pensions

Employees of the University are provided with access to an occupational pension scheme. When an employee starts work in the University, their Contract of Employment will confirm the pension scheme in which they will be enrolled.

Help & Training
Finance Training

Finance Training is open to all staff and aims to improve finance skills across the University using systems such as Qfis. Find out more information on available Finance Training and Systems here.

iRise

iRise means: Internationally focused, Racial diversity, Inclusivity for all, Social Cohesion, and Equality of opportunity. The purpose of iRise is to promote the University as a welcoming place to work for BAME and International  staff.

Salaries

The Salaries Office in the Finance Directorate deal with the main QUB payroll, the Non Staff payroll, the RBP Payroll and the Student payroll. Find out more salary information and guidance here.

The University LGBT+ staff network, providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for LGBT+ staff in Queen's to meet during working hours to discuss LGBT+ issues, work matters and social events.

UCU

UCU is the largest trade union at Queen’s, representing and protecting the interests of both academic staff and professional service staff at grade 6 and above. UCU co-negotiated, with Unite and NIPSA,  a major local pay deal for all Queen’s staff in 2024, at a percentage well above the national UK proposals

The Chancellery is a central coordinating Directorate, supporting decision making in the University by ensuring an integrated approach to governance, compliance and central administration.

Procurement

The Procurement Office, based in the Finance Directorate, provides specialist advice, support and guidance to staff that need to procure works, supplies and services for their specific areas. Find out more information here.
