Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing

  • Connect: Be in touch with the people around you – your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Spend time developing these relationships.
  • Be Active: You don't have to join a gym. Take a walk, ride a bike, play a game of football: just find an activity you enjoy and make it a part of your life.
  • Keep Learning: New skills can give you a sense of achievement and confidence. Check out what’s on offer at the University – Open Learning and Language Centre courses.
  • Give to others: The smallest act can count, while larger acts, such as volunteering, can improve your mental wellbeing and help you build new social networks. Check out the volunteering opportunities available through the University.
  • Be mindful: Be more aware of the present moment, including your thoughts and feelings, your body and the world around you. Some people call this "mindfulness". It can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.
