In 2024 Portugal celebrates the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974 Revolution that ended the dictatorial regime in the country, ended the colonial wars and led to the independence of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and S. Tomé and Príncipe.
