In the 2024 rankings, published today (27 June) by the global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds, Queen’s is placed 202 in the world. This is the highest percentile ranking that Queen’s has ever achieved.

Globally, the QS rankings are considered one of the most authoritative rankings of universities. This year’s QS World University Rankings is the largest ever, with 1,500 universities across 104 locations, up from 1,418 last year.

Welcoming the figures, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement at Queen’s University, Professor Margaret Topping, said: “We are incredibly proud that Queen’s has been ranked in the top 14 per cent of universities in the world. This is the best performance for Queen’s in the QS rankings in the university’s history, reflecting the collaborative work and dedication of our staff and students in making Queen’s a world-class university.

“This outcome recognises above all the excellence of our education, the reach of our research, and the quality of our graduates, as voted for by academics and employers across the globe.”

President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Greer, said: “Performance rankings are one of the ways we can tell our story on the world stage and highlight the benefits and experience of an education from Queen’s. They set out comparisons across a number of areas such as research quality and international networks, employability and outcomes, and learning experiences, to illustrate the outstanding contribution made by Queen’s as a university.

"This is important but equally important are the people behind the story who create ground-breaking research, contribute to society and the economy, and who make an impact on the world. That’s the Queen’s we are proud of.”
