Belmont University Summer Programme '25

Apply for the opportunity to take part in the inaugural Belmont Summer Programme. This opportunity is available to current Second Year students studying within the Faculty of AHSS.

We are delighted to offer our undergraduate students an opportunity to apply for the Belmont Summer Programme, 2025. Students will spend three weeks in Nashville, living and studying on campus at Belmont University. In addition to experiencing one of the most vibrant and dynamic cities in America, you will explore the history of Nashville and examine the social and economic challenges that persist in the city. Students will engage in rich dialogue and careful analysis to discern useful insights and potential policy strategies that might support innovative solutions to address these challenges. Successful applicants will pay a contribution of £750 (or £450, see Terms and Conditions). This includes the 3-week-long programme, flights and accommodation. Please note that other costs will be the students’ responsibility. Anticipated travel dates, Friday 30 May to Saturday 21 June 2025. Deadline for submission - Monday 3 February, 12 noon.

Financial awards to support your Global Mobility for skills development

Becoming a global citizen during your study enhances your skills, broadens your horizons and allows you to immerse yourself in culture, ideas and knowledge from industries you want to work in. Our awards support students studying in Arts, Humanities and Social Science planning to undertake skill development activities around the world.

Domestic activities in UK/ROI can be supported by our 'Boost Your Skills Award' and international activities can go through the 'Jetset Your Degree Award'.

Please note that students are responsible for researching visa requirements and obtaining the correct visa of their intended host country. QUB cannot provide advice on visa matters.

Deadlines for applications are: 1st November, 1st February, 1st April and 1st June

JETSET YOUR DEGREE

Apply for £1000 to support your international travel for skills development in 2024-25.

The AHSS 'JETSET' award will support you in being able to take part in an international activity during the 24/25 academic year that that will enrich your degree and support your skill development relevant to your chosen career. This award is available to current QUB students studying within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Awards of £1000 may be made to support you taking part in an activity outside of UK/ ROI. The activity must add value to your degree, enhance your skills and be relevant to your chosen career. Application necessary, awards are subject to funding availability, terms and conditions apply.

BOOST YOUR SKILLS

Apply for £250 to support your local skills development in 2024-25.

Taking local opportunities to expand your learning outside of the classroom is essential during study. The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences have opened a new round of awards for students undertaking domestic placements, skill development programmes, attending workshops or conferences or completing short courses during their degree. These should be completed in NI/UK/IRELAND only. This award is available to current QUB students studying within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Awards of £250 may be made to support you taking part in an activity inside of NI/UK/IRELAND. The activity must add value to your degree, enhance your skills and be relevant to your chosen career. Application necessary, awards are subject to funding availability, terms and conditions apply.

The award allowed me, as an international student hoping to continue to live and work on the island of Ireland, to fully immerse myself in the cross-community organising landscape in Northern Ireland.

Hope Stoner, MA in Global Security and Borders, who interned with the OUR Generation project at Cooperation Ireland which aims to “promote positive mental health/build emotional resilience of children and young people” in the five Urban Villages and Irish border region (Co-Operation Ireland, 2022).
