Bridges to China is a partnership between Queen's University Belfast (Dr Emma Reisz and Dr Briony Widdis) and the Chinese Welfare Association to explore under-researched Chinese heritage in Northern Ireland.
This short film by Michael Avila and Maciek Bator of AvilaMedia features Sally Gillespie, Lili Li, Wei Deng, Stephen Lam and many others at a workshop on 29 July 2025 exploring Chinese collections at Mount Stewart.
This historic house in Northern Ireland, run by the National Trust, is a partner in Historic Houses, Global Crossroads, a major project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and led by University of Birmingham with Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and other partners.
The workshop was a prelude to 'Bridges to China', a co-production initiative between QUB, the Chinese Welfare Association and National Museums NI, funded by AHRC's Impact Acceleration Account.
