Rededication of Thomas Andrews Grave

11 April, 2024

The Royal Society of Chemistry Northern Ireland Local Section led the restoration of the grave of Professor Thomas Andrews in Belfast City Cemetery, supported by a donation by Queen's University Belfast.

The rededication service was held on 11th April 2024 and representatives of the RSC NI Local Section, Queen’s and the RSC President, Professor Gill Reid, and RSC CEO, Dr Helen Pain MBE, were in attendance. The service was led by Reverend Mark Gallagher, a Queen’s CCE graduate and member of the RSC NI local section. Members of the Andrews family were also present.

Attendees at Rededication Service for grave of Thomas Andrews including RSC NI Local Section, RSC Staff, RSC CEO Dr Helen Pain MBE, RSC President Professor Gill Reid, Johhny Andrews, Robert Andrews, Honorary QUB graduate and historian Tom Hartley, representatives from Grave Concern Ireland (who undertook the restoration) and Queen’s Dr Kevin Morgan.
