Work Experience
Pupils completing work shadowing in the School of Mathematics and Physics can experience the life of a researcher and learn about how maths and physics are used in the real world.
Our programmes, “Experience Physics” and “Experience Maths”, are one-day events, usually held in the last week of June. During these events, you will have the chance to tour the research facilities, talk to researchers, hear from alumni and do some practical work. Registration for these events opens in the spring. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the mailing list to be notified when registration opens.
For a more in-depth experience over several days, we can sometimes facilitate individual placements. You will need to identify a suitable supervisor from your chosen area and approach them directly via email. If the academic agrees to take you on, the placement will be held either in January or June.
