The Festival seeks to enhance public awareness of the practice of science, has been heavily supported by staff from the School the University's Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Life Sciences, who have contributed to many of the Festival's events. These included "Cut and Paste" focused on the use of genetic technologies in the production of products such as medicines, and "An Evening of Drink and Drugs at Hillsborough Castle", which featured an interactive session delivered by Professor Sharon Haughey.

Dr Dan Corbett from the School of Pharmacy, who contributed to the Cut and Paste event, commented: "The Northern Ireland Science Festival provides staff from Queen's with a fantastic opportunity to increase the awareness of science amongst the general public, enhancing education, and inspiring younger people to enter into science-focused careers. With science being at the heart of what we do at the School of Pharmacy, the Festival allows us to increase the public's appreciation of just what goes into making medicines."
