Professor Richard Schoch (Principal Investigator)

Richard Schoch is Professor of Drama at Queen’s University Belfast. His research encompasses theatre historiography, Shakespeare in performance, and cultural history. He is the author of Writing the History of the British Stage, 1660-1900 (2016), Not Shakespeare (2002), and Shakespeare’s Victorian Stage (1998). He has edited Great Shakespeareans: Macready, Booth, Terry, Irving (2011) and Victorian Theatrical Burlesques (2003), and he is a contributing editor of the new Cengage Shakespeare.

 

 

 

 

Professor Amanda Eubanks Winkler (International Co-Investigator)

 Amanda Eubanks Winkler is Associate Professor of Music History and Cultures at Syracuse University. Her research focuses on English theatre music of the seventeenth, eighteenth, and twentieth centuries. She is a General Editor for The Collected Works of John Eccles (A-R Editions) and has published two critical editions: John Eccles, Incidental Music, Part 1 (2015) and Music for Macbeth (2004). She is the author of O Let Us Howle Some Heavy Note: Music for Witches, the Melancholic, and the Mad on the Seventeenth-Century English Stage (2006) and the co-edited volume Beyond Boundaries: Rethinking Music Circulation in Early Modern England (2017).

 

 

 

 Dr Claude Fretz (Research Fellow)

Claude Fretz is a Research Fellow in the School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen’s University Belfast. As well as working on Restoration Shakespeare, he is currently researching the representations of dreams and sleep in Shakespeare’s plays and in wider early modern culture, and he has published articles on this subject in Etudes Epistémè and Cahiers Elisabéthains. He is in the process of writing his first monograph, entitled Dreams, Sleep, and Shakespeare’s Genres, which is under contract with Palgrave Macmillan.
