Interdisciplinary Research Centres and Networks
Modern Languages supports a range of interdisciplinary ventures and networks of collaboration within the School of Arts, English and Languages, and the Faculty of Humanities at QUB, in which Postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers are fully integrated.
The Centre for Translation and Interpreting staff, doctoral researchers and visiting scholars are conducting innovative research in a wide range of topics in translation and interpreting. CTI is home to over 40 PhD researchers working on topics in Translation and Interpreting, making us one of the largest centres for doctoral training in Translation and Interpreting in the UK.
CTI Home PageThe Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies, established in 2002, is a long-standing research initiative providing a focal point for interdisciplinary research in the long-eighteenth century. It brings together staff, students and international visitors from English, Music, Languages and History and regularly hosts conferences and smaller research gatherings on the Irish eighteenth century especially, including the annual Eighteenth Century Ireland conference in June 2019.
CECS Home PageThe Centre for the Americas, established in 2017 is an interdisciplinary hub of research innovation, bringing together scholars working in the fields of U.S. and Latin American Studies from backgrounds in literature, visual culture, the creative arts, languages and translation, history, philosophy, politics, and international relations. It hosts a lively research seminar series and occasional national and international conferences and symposia.
