From the very beginning, technology fascinated me. It wasn’t just about machines or code, it was about solving complex problems, pushing boundaries, and uncovering the unseen. That passion led me on a journey across the world, from Iran to Northern Cyprus, and eventually to the UK, where I earned my PhD in Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast.

My journey into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning began with a strong foundation in Computer Engineering from Azad University, followed by an MSc from Eastern Mediterranean University both as lecturer and researcher. Drawn to the power of AI in transforming healthcare, I delved into research, focusing on cancer studies and digital health.  In Belfast, I became a part of the Momentum One Zero Innovation Centre at Queen’s University, where I work on integrating AI into digital health to create intelligent environments that enhance human well-being. My passion for advancing healthcare technology led me to join the Irish National OHDSI Node, through partnerships with European and global OHDSI, collaborating on national health initiatives and fostering research projects across Ireland.

Today, I share my knowledge as a lecturer at the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science (EEECS), inspiring the next generation of innovators. But my journey isn’t confined to academia, I’ve also ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. I’ve worked as a software engineer, led my own startup as CEO, and now, I am the co-founder and scientific advisor at Blockbio in Belfast, where we are harnessing the power of AI to unlock the full potential of genomics and drive the future of technology.

I’ve worked as a software engineer, led my own startup as CEO, and now, I am the co-founder and scientific advisor at Blockbio in Belfast

Through it all, one thing has remained constant: my love for tackling the toughest questions and finding solutions where others see obstacles. I am most proud of my journey as a researcher, Lecturer, and entrepreneur while promoting EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) —pushing the boundaries of AI and Machine Learning, inspiring the next generation through teaching, and leveraging technology to revolutionise genomics.

At our school, diversity isn’t just a word—it’s our strength. Walking through our halls, you’ll hear languages from around the world, see traditions blending seamlessly, and witness students and staff from over 30 nationalities working side by side. Here, every culture is celebrated, every voice is valued, and together, we create an environment where learning goes beyond textbooks—it’s about understanding, respect, and unity.
