Feargal Cochrane, Kent, ‘Brexit and Northern Ireland: into an uncertain future’.

Feargal Cochrane is Emeritus Professor of International Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent at Canterbury. He was previously Director of the Richardson Institute, a peace and conflict studies research centre at Lancaster University (2005-12). Before this he was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster. He joined the University of Kent in 2012. Professor Cochrane has also held academic posts at the Centre for the Study of Conflict, Ulster University (1996-8) and at the Institute of Irish Studies, Queen’s University Belfast (1994-5). Prof. Cochrane has published widely in the area of political violence and conflict transformation in leading international journals and with prestigious academic publishers and has presented his research at numerous conferences and through keynote addresses. His books include: Unionist Politics and the Politics of Unionism Since the Anglo-Irish Agreement (Cork UP, 2001), Ending Wars (Polity, 2008), The End of Irish-America? Globalisation and the Irish Diaspora (IAP, 2010), Northern Ireland: The Reluctant Peace (Yale UP, 2013), and most recently, Breaking Peace: Brexit and Northern Ireland (Manchester UP, 2020).
