Claudia Kinmonth, NUIG, 'Irish country furniture and furnishings 1700-2000: Revising, revisiting & reprinting'.

Claudia Kinmonth holds a PhD from the University of Teesside and is currently Research Curator (Domestic Life) at the Ulster Folk Museum and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Moore Institute, NUI Galway. Among her many publications in design and art history are Irish Country Furniture 1700-1950 (Yale UP, 1993) and Irish Rural Interiors in Art (Yale UP, 2006). She has co-curated exhibitions of Irish genre paintings, some with furniture, at the Crawford Gallery in Cork (2006), the National Gallery of Ireland (2007) and The McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College (2012), and she has also worked at the Victoria & Albert Museum and Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. The importance of her research was recognised by election as a Member of the Royal Irish Academy in 2018. Her new book, Irish Country Furniture and Furnishings 1700-2000, was published by Cork University Press in November 2020. Further details on her research can be found on her website at: https://www.claudiakinmonth.ie/
