A new website, created by Christopher Marsh (QUB) and Angela McShane (University of Warwick), has just won an international music prize. In a ceremony in Stockholm, www.100ballads.org was named the 'Interdisciplinary Project of the Year' by REMA, a network of musical organisations funded by the European Union.

The website presents the first ever pop chart of songs from seventeenth-century England, and it includes digital images, contextual information and 100 specially-commissioned musical recordings. Marsh and McShane worked closely with Andy Watts of the Carnival Band and a varied group of over twenty musicians. The website was designed by the Digital Humanities Institute at the University of Sheffield.
