Biography
Ambassador David Donoghue had a long, varied, and impactful career in Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, serving as the Irish Ambassador to Russia, Austria, and Germany, as well as Ireland’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. He served as co-facilitator (with Kenya) for the UN negotiations which led to the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015.
Following his retirement in 2017, Ambassador Donoghue has taken up a number of appointments, including Distinguished Fellow of the ODI, Fellow of the Robert Bosch Academy, and Chair of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Ireland.
Ambassador Donoghue brings a wealth of experience and insight in relation to sustainability, leadership within the public sector, diplomacy, and negotiation to Queen’s University.
