What course did you study?

I graduated from Queen's Business School in 2020 with a degree in MSc Management .

 

Why did you choose this course? 

I decided to study MSc Management because I wanted to develop my skills and competence in Management. Doing so meant that I could enhance my career opportunities.

 

What has your career path been since graduation?

After graduating in 2020, I accepted a place on a graduate programme at EirGrid, which is an electric power transmission operator in Ireland. In this programme I completed three rotations in Finance, Operations and Strategy.

Once I completed the programme, I stayed on at the company and assumed the role of a Sustainability Analyst.

 

How did your degree prepare you for your current job role?  

The MSc Management course provides a great opportunity to enhance your skills and develop understanding in the business space.

The breadth of module opportunities provides great insight into different aspects of management, leaving you with well rounded knowledge.

 

What were your favourite courses, modules or educational takeaways from your time at Queen's and why were they impactful?  

I really enjoyed my time at Queen's as a whole, and I also thoroughly enjoyed studying my chosen course.

I particularly enjoyed the research and strategy modules as we were provided with a range of skills to undertake effective research in business and management. These modules allowed me to develop my intellectual and practical skills of analysing and evaluating current issues relevant in strategic management in a rapidly changing global environment.

 

Did you do any extra-curricular activities whilst at Queen’s? How did this help you to advance personally and professionally?    

I received the Graduate Plus accreditation for my role as Vice President for Enactus Belfast. In this role I managed three sustainable social enterprise projects across Belfast, developing my understanding of business acumen and strategy along with planning effective measures for success and sustainability within the businesses.

This demonstrates to employers that your achievements extend beyond the academic sphere.

 

What advice do you have for someone considering studying at Queen’s Business School?   

I would recommend Queen's Business School to anyone who is considering studying here.

Queen's provides a great opportunity in the academic and social space, with a great range of modules and engaging, supportive teachers.

 

What has been your career highlight so far?  

My career highlight so far would be seeing the tangible impact of my work and EirGrid’s role in fuelling the decarbonisation of the power system.
