As part of Drift, a Belfast ‘24 project, Alice Malseed and Stephen Connolly will lead two writing workshops exploring our connections with the River Lagan. Participants will walk along parts of the river, documenting the sights, smells and sounds that they encounter, before returning to the Seamus Heaney Centre to create a collage of their discoveries. 
 
These workshops are free and open to all, and we particularly encourage those with no previous writing experience. The first workshop will focus on the areas from Stranmillis Lock to the Ormeau Bridge, and the second will focus on the areas from the Ormeau Bridge to the Lagan Weir. 
 
Participants are welcome to sign up for either of these workshops, or both. Tea and coffee will be provided at the Seamus Heaney Centre after the river walk. 
 
Please note that these workshops will include a walk of approximately 45-60 minutes. If you would like to contribute a piece of writing to the Drift project without taking part in the walk and workshop, you can do so here.

Alice Malseed is a writer and theatre-maker based in Belfast. Her work has appeared across the UK, Ireland, in Sri Lanka and New York. Her most recent play, Three Pay Days, will be performed at the Eastside Arts Festival this year. 
 
Stephen Connolly is the Outreach and Engagement Officer at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s.
