Fighting Words NI provides creative writing opportunities for children and young people in Belfast and beyond. They run storymaking workshops, write clubs, and special publishing projects with the support of a team of volunteer writing mentors. Each year, our students are offered training to become a volunteer mentor with Fighting Words, to help the next generation of writers tell their stories. This is an ideal opportunity for both postgraduate and undergraduate students to gain experience working with primary school children.
The next training session will take place in the Seamus Heaney Centre on the evening of Wednesday the 25th of September, 2024 and will be followed by workshops on campus with children from local primary schools in October and November.
We are now taking expressions of interest for this session here. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. A number of places have been reserved for non-students. (Please note that you must also complete the Fighting Words NI online application form when filing your expression of interest.)
