Would you like to come to the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's to explore and write about the concept of journey, 'home' and a sense of belonging? We are offering a free opportunity to take part in a series of workshops with Shahminee Selvakannu. Participants will be introduced to short stories, poems and lyrics that deal with migration, homesickness, memories, and living in-between-ness.
Shahminee Selvakannu is a writer from Malaysia who lives in Belfast. She holds a PhD from the Centre, part of which is a collection of fourteen short stories with the title Here and There about diasporic Indian-Malaysians living in Northern Ireland (here) and Malaysia (there).
We are particularly keen for participants who have recently arrived to live in Belfast. These workshops are open to anyone over the age of 18. These workshops will happen in the evening and we are looking at ways to assist with childcare for participants.
