Collections at the Seamus Heaney Centre
The Seamus Heaney Centre has been the home for developing writers at Queen’s since it was established in 2004. The Centre holds a small archive that both reflects its ongoing work in the field of creative writing and Seamus Heaney’s legacy from his time at Queen’s. Our collections fall into four main categories: The Seamus Heaney Broadcast Archive, Ciaran Carson’s Working Library, the Poetry Library, and items relating to the Centre’s work.
The Poetry Library is currently only available to students and staff affiliated with the Seamus Heaney Centre.

Access to the Collections:
A selection of archive material can be viewed in the permanent exhibition in the Weston Gallery. It is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday 10.00am - 4.00pm, and at regular public evening events throughout the year.
The Poetry Library is currently only available to students and staff affiliated with the Seamus Heaney Centre.
To view materials held in the Broadcast Archive, and within Ciaran Carson's Working Library, appointments need to be made in advance with the Collections Managers. To make an appointment please contact our Collections Co-Managers via email shcarchive@qub.ac.uk
As the Collections Manager posts are part-time, it’s best to give as much advance notice of a visit as possible.
Staff and Students/QUB library card holders should ensure they bring their passes when they view the material. Those without library cards will have to provide ID and proof of address at their appointment.
