Cathleen Young is announced as the inaugural Fighting Words Writing Fellow.
Fighting Words Northern Ireland and Fighting Words recently welcomed Cathleen Young as their inaugural Fighting Words Writing Fellow in association with The Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's University Belfast.
Cathleen comes to us by way of the HUMANITAS Prize in Hollywood, California where she was the Executive Director from 2007-2021. She is an award-winning television writer as well as a children’s author. Her debut novel, The Pumpkin War, won The Christopher Award in 2020. Ms. Young starts her three-year term as Fighting Words Fellow in May 2021.
All involved look forward to working with Cathleen in developing innovative, engaging and fun writing programmes for children and young people both North and South. The Seamus Heaney Centre are keen to explore the new learning opportunities this Fellowship will open up, for students of creative writing at Queen's University Belfast.
