Pilot Season
Queer Poetry
This new series celebrates the successes of LGBTQ+ poets from the Seamus Heaney Centre and the positive influence the writing community has held for them. It takes the form of interviews with Padraig Regan, Toby Buckley, Mícheál McCann, Dawn Watson, and Paul Maddern, hosted by Publishing Fellow Hilary McCollum. The launch of the groundbreaking Queering the Green anthology, edited by Paul Maddern in 2021, has thrown the spotlight onto the vibrant LGBTQ poetry scene in Ireland. 2022 has seen the publication of new pamphlets by local queer poets, with Toby Buckley's Milk Snake and Mícheál McCann's Keeper. Padraig Regan's first collection, Some Integrity, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prize, and Dawn Watson has signed with Granta for her eagerly awaited debut collection, We Play Here, due in Spring 2023.
