Just two months after taking office, President Donald Trump’s policies have already had tumultuous effects on American society and the world. In this roundtable discussion, leading US sociologists on race and racism reflect on these dramatic political and cultural changes taking place under the Trump administration. This roundtable will explore questions such as how President Trump’s policies affect researching and teaching about race in higher education, the similarities and differences between the first and second Trump administrations, and what the academic community – both inside and outside the US – can do in response.

Speakers:

Prof Kenneth Andrews (Washington University in St. Louis)
Prof David Cunningham (Washington University in St. Louis)
Prof Nicole Fox (California State University Sacramento)
