Centre for Children’s Rights Seminar Series

In Conversation with Honorary Professor of Practice Koulla Yiasouma

Best Interests, Children's Rights and Youth Justice: The Impossible Dream?

Audience: All students and staff across Queen’s University. To attend, RSVP to b.byrne@qub.ac.uk.

Overview
Children who commit terrible acts are often used as the reason why children’s rights cannot be universal and must be conditional. The discussion will centre on how practitioners can navigate the precarious path of protecting the rights and best interests of children in the youth justice system in way that does not ignore their crimes and does not compromise the safety of communities.
