International Women's Day - School of EEECS Event
The School of EEECS are celebrating International Women's Day this year with an inspiring talk from one of their female PhD students.
Guest Speaker: Adrianne Thompson is an early career researcher at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) investigating how Internet-connected devices can facilitate abuse against victims of intimate partner violence. Through her work, she hopes to make a positive impact on both technology and society especially survivors of intimate partner violence.
"Smart Tech: To Use or Abuse?" – The talk will explore the ways that smart devices can enhance daily life but also be exploited for control and surveillance. Through real-world examples and interactive demonstrations, Adrianne will shed light on the risks, challenges, and safeguards in an increasingly connected world.
