Queen’s communications team is top of the world!

The Strategic Communications Directorate has been named the ‘in-house team of the year’ at the global PRCA Platinum Awards, dubbed the Oscars of the PR industry.

Picking up the accolade at a prestigious ceremony in the National Theatre in London, the communications team met with finalists from some of the biggest names in PR from across the world including Edelman Africa, Weber Shandwick and Smarts.

Entry to the PRCA Platinum Awards is available exclusively to those who have won or been shortlisted at the regional DARE awards; tonight's Platinum win comes off the back of the team’s NI award in May of this year. The Platinum Awards pit leading entries from around the world against each other to showcase and reward the very best in global communications.

The team fought off tough competition to be crowned the best in-house team making this the second accolade in the first 12 months since the new Strategic Communications Directorate has been set up. The directorate is helping to further boost the reputation and profile of the University across these islands and beyond, highlighting the life-changing work of Queen’s in shaping a better world.

On news of the win, Director of Strategic Communications Eamon Deeny said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have now been named in-house team of the year by PRCA at both a regional and global level. This is a ringing endorsement of our new Strategic Communications Directorate and its delivery of high-level communications to highlight the incredible work of our University, helping to further enhance our public image and reputation. Congratulations to our excellent, high-performing team who have shown not only is Queen’s top of the class but also top of the world!”

Dr Ryan Feeney, Vice President Strategic Engagement and External Affairs, said:

“Many congratulations to Eamon and the Strategic Communications Directorate on this highly prestigious win. Communications plays a vital role in the work of Queen’s; this is recognised in the strategic decision we took last year to set up a new directorate. We have built a strong, respected, multi-disciplined communications team respected by journalists and news organisations, with an innovative social media presence, and which delivers effective internal communications. This award is a testament to the collective effort of the team, reflecting the collaborative spirit that defines Queen’s across the board.”
