Description: The PhD student will map and assess environmental risks across key sectors and identify legal, financial, and policy interventions to support transformative solutions. This includes cross-jurisdictional risk mapping for climate, invasive species, and biodiversity threats in sectors like agrifood, energy, construction, and finance, contributing to tailored risk dashboards and a live industry risk heatmap.

Candidate requirements: Hold a Master’s degree in Finance, or a cognate discipline (or equivalent) with first class honours or high second class honours. They will have a demonstrated understanding of finance and sustainability. The candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills. Relevant professional experience is an asset.

Candidate Requirements: The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, sustainability, or other relevant discipline, with first class honours or high second class honours. They will demonstrate an understanding of business and sustainability and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Relevant professional experience is an asset.

Islands of Britain and Ireland Climate Dataset

Institution: Newcastle University 

Duration: Fixed term for a period of 18 months

Salary: £32,546.00 - £40,497.00  per annum

Description: We are seeking a researcher to work on the development of an hourly (or higher resolution) gridded rainfall dataset for the UK and Ireland and for its assessment against existing datasets.  The researcher will build upon recent work at Newcastle University to evaluate, develop and improve observational datasets of climate variations across the British & Irish Isles, including quantification of uncertainties.
