AIMday Predictive Health Analytics

Driving Digital Health Transformation with Momentum One Zero

Thirteen forward-thinking companies had the opportunity to discuss their ambitions with experts from medicine, AI and data science at AIMday (Academic Industry Meeting Day) Predictive Health Analytics—an event that exemplifies how industry can directly benefit from academic expertise. Held on 27 November 2024 at Riddel Hall, the event was designed to help companies access cutting-edge research, share feedback, and explore collaborative solutions to their most pressing challenges.

Organised by Momentum One Zero, a business-focused digital innovation centre and the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre (MSRC) at Queen’s University Belfast under the leadership of Dr Lisa McFetriage, AIMday also served as a launchpad for the Digital Health Hub—a strategic initiative to foster innovation in predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and data science.

Transformative Outcomes

The event catalysed significant outcomes, including the successful acquisition of €9.85 million in PEACEPLUS funding for the OneHealth programme. Launching in October 2025, this initiative will support 32 local businesses in developing AI-driven health innovations. Notably, twenty-four businesses endorsed the funding application, eight of which were AIMday participants.

Emerging Collaborations

  • Medical AI Solutions and TIYGA Health collaborated with Queen’s academics to develop prototypes focused on AI-powered medication adherence and personalized health data analytics, respectively.
  • Skyjoy Ltd partnered with a Queen’s researcher and clinician on an NIHR bid application focused on dementia care.

Strengthening Strategic Partnerships

  • IQVIA, a leading global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights and healthcare intelligence to the life sciences and healthcare industries, expanded its collaboration with Momentum One Zero/Queen’s University Belfast, co-authoring a white paper on cancer data innovation across all Island of Ireland[1].
  • A large multinational insurance company began exploring longer term academic collaboration with Momentum One Zero to bring research and academic engagement that may help shape the future of cancer care and coverage.

Talent Development

AIMday also facilitated talent acquisition. A psychology postgraduate initially secured an interim Chief Innovation Officer role at Music Technology, a Belfast-based music tech startup, and has now transitioned to a full-time position through AIMday networking.
