Join us for an engaging conversation with Dr Ana Sara Cordeiro, Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics and MPharm Programme Director at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde.

In this session, Dr Cordeiro will reflect on her academic career to date, from her postdoctoral research at Queen’s University Belfast to her transition into a permanent academic role and the establishment of her own independent research group.  She will share insights into the opportunities and challenges she encountered along the way, as well as lessons learned from balancing teaching, research, and leadership responsibilities.

The session will include a live Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to ask questions and seek practical advice on navigating academic career pathways.

ALL WELCOME!  This event is primarily targeted at postdocs and research staff, but is open to anyone who is interested in attending, including individuals of all career stages and roles affiliated to any university or without university affiliation.

In this event Dr Ana Sara Cordeiro will be interviewed by Jill Wright, Research Careers and Employability Officer in the Postdoctoral Development Centre at Queen's University Belfast.  Jill will ask some prepared questions but also relay questions shared by the audience in the event chat and address any pre-event questions received at registration.

DR ANA SARA CORDEIRO

Sara Cordeiro is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics and MPharm Programme Director at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde.  Following a PharmD from the University of Porto, Portugal and a PhD in Drug Research and Development from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, Sara worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast.

Sara then began her academic career as a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University (UK), gaining experience in teaching and academic leadership, as well as establishing her independent research group - the 3Ds (Drug Delivery and Diagnostics) Lab.

Throughout these years, Sara has developed a background in pharmaceutical formulation, drug delivery, nanomedicine, vaccine delivery and microneedles for transdermal drug delivery and diagnostics.  The research efforts of the 3Ds Lab focus on improving and facilitating patients’ lives through the development of drug and vaccine delivery systems that are easy to manufacture and scale-up, highly efficient and administered through non-invasive routes.
