The School of Law is pleased to highlight the AHSS BOOST Your Skills Award 2025–26, an excellent opportunity for students to secure £250 in funding to support skills development activities taking place across the UK or Republic of Ireland.
Formerly known as the Local Skills Development Award, the BOOST Award is designed to help you enhance your academic experience, professional skills, and career prospects. Whether you are planning to attend a short course, undertake voluntary work, participate in a conference, or gain practical experience through a placement, this fund can help support your goals.
Who Can Apply
The award is open to current students in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, including all students in the School of Law. Funding is allocated through a competitive process, and applications must include evidence that your activity is already confirmed or booked.
Eligible Activities
Activities must:
- Take place between 1 October 2025 and 30 June 2026
- Be based in the UK or ROI
- Support your learning, employability, or future career
Activities may include:
- Unpaid placements or voluntary work
- Short courses, training programmes, or workshops
- Academic conferences
- Other activities that clearly develop your professional or academic skills
Funding and Key Dates
- Award value: £250 (£175 on approval, £75 after completion)
- Applications close: Monday 2 March 2026
- Decisions issued: Tuesday 31 March 2026
- Payments made: End of April 2026
Application Notes
- You must submit an academic approval letter and proof of booking.
- A minimum score of 25 is required under the award’s scoring matrix.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Students who previously received funding may reapply, but priority may be given to first-time applicants.
